Vatican City - Near Complete MNH Collection From 1929-1990 In Palo Hingeless Album
Vatican City - Near Complete MNH Collection From 1929-1990 In Palo Hingeless Album
A superb, nearly complete and mostly VFNH collection from the very first issues in 1929 to 1990, housed in a 5-ring Palo hingeless album.
The regular issues are complete up to the end of 1983, missing only the 1934 Pope Pius Surcharges. All the stamps I checked, with the following exceptions were NH:
- 1949 Basilica - a few were NH, but most had light hinge marks.
- 1950 Holy Year.
- 1951 Virgin Mary - the high value has a gum disturbance. Low value is NH.
- 1953 Martyrdom - high value is hinged, but low value is NH.
I had checked all the major sets to 1955, which is when the expensive period ends. The total catalogue value of these hinged stamps is not great: no more than about $125, so the adjustment to the overall value of the collection is minimal, especially considering that some of the stamps in this group are NH. Centering for the earlier issues is variable, with most being VF, but some stamps being just fine. However, I did notice that in most cases, the fine stamps were the lower values in sets.
From 1983 until 1990, the regular issues are represented only by the souvenir sheets, and one set of mosaic stamps in 1990.
The airmails are complete to 1996 and all the high values that I checked are NH.
The special delivery, postage due and parcel post issues are all complete, and again, every stamp I spot checked is NH.
The owner's 2017 Scott value is $5,903.30 USD, which at an average exchange rate of 1.35 is approximately $7,969 CDN. We are offering this collection for the attractive price of $2,995.00 plus taxes and shipping, or $499.16 per month, plus taxes and shipping over 6 months.
