Lot 248 Nigeria Mint Postcard of Victoria Road in Lagos & Used Montgomery Ward Business Reply Card

Lot 248 Nigeria Mint Postcard of Victoria Road in Lagos & Used Montgomery Ward Business Reply Card

One mint postcard, depicting a sepia image of Victoria Road in Lagos, that appears to be the 1920's. Also, a very interesting business reply card from Montgomery Ward, the largest mail order company at the time, requesting every category of goods listed on the back. No postage was affixed, but the sender wrote an apology to this effect, explaining that they couldn't affix a stamp, because the post office was closed. A postage due marking was applied, but curiously no postage due stamps were applied, so it is quite possible that the postal clerk in the US read the note and decided not to assess the deficiency. Lagos and Proud type D5 Ijebu-Ode cancels.

VF condition overall. The value of the cancels in Proud is 20 GBP. The destination is common. The cards themselves have a value of about $15. So, my estimate of the value of these is $35.
