5 VFNH singles of the 2d deep grey black - deep grey King George VI from the 1938-1952 King George VI Definitive Issue line perf 12. Begins with a March 1942 printing in deep grey black. Then there is a very deep grey printing which would appear to be either from June 1942 or August 1942. There is no listing in Potter & Shelton for either date, so it seems probable that this is a colonial release that was sent straight to Nigeria, without ever being recorded or sold in London. Then there is a July 1943 printing in grey black. Again, this is not listed in P&S, but it shares the same paper and gum characteristics as other June 1943 printings for the other values in the set. Then, there is an April 1944 printing in grey black, and a second variation of the same printing in deep grey.
2022 Scott Classic does not list the individual printings of this set, nor any varieties. Also, it does not list a separate NH premium for each stamp, but a 100% premium can generally be inferred. Our values are generally estimates that are based on the Scott or Gibbons values, adjusted for scarcity of individual varieties, condition and NH status. Based on this, our estimate of the value is $5. The stamps offered here grade 75-84 as follows:
