Lot 272 Nigeria #16b 1d Rose Red 1921-1932 King George V Imperium Keyplate Issue, Usage On 1928 Registered Envelope To USA

A registered envelope to Germany, sent in December 1928, at the 7d rate (the double weight rate), uprated, by affixing four 1d die 2 rose red stamps. Sent from Ibara and the stamps tied by Proud type R3 registry cancel. Lagos transit backstamp.

VF condition overall. The value of the cancels in Proud is 2 GBP. The destination for the cover is of no premium value, but the rate is one of the better rates, as is the franking, which would normally be two x 2d, rather than 4 1d's. These should add $10 to the basic cover value of $5. The stamp value on cover is nominal, as three of the stamps have frayed perfs at the top. So, my estimate of the value of this covers is $17.
