Lot 271 Nigeria #16, 25a 1d Deep Red, 6d Bright Purple & Dull Purple 1921-1932 King George V Imperium Keyplate Issue, Usage On 1926 Registered Cover to Germany

A registered cover to the Germany, sent from Lagos on March 12, 1926, and franked with a 1d die 2 deep red and 6d dull and bright purple die 2, paying a combined rate of 7d (4d postage, 3d registration). My guess is that this rate corresponds to the double weight rate, as the single weight rate to the UK was 2d at this time. There are several backstamps, including London, an oval German Bahnpost cancel, another indistict German cancel and a Lagos oval registry transit cancel.

Fine condition overall. The value of the cancels in Proud is nominal. The destination for the cover is better, but one of the more common western European destinations, so it should add $5 or so. The basic cover is a less common rate, so should be worth $10. The stamp value on cover is $25. So, my estimate of the value of this covers is $40.
