Lot 280 Nigeria #16, 18 1d Rose Red & 2d Grey 1921-1932 King George V Imperium Keyplate Issue, Usage On Large Registered Envelope To New York, Scarce Cancel
An oversize registered envelope, sent from Calabar on June 16, 1924, at the 6d rate, to New York, and franked with a die 1 1d rose red and a die 1 2d grey. The stamps are tied by a Proud type R9 Calabar Southern Nigeria registry cancel, which is rated as x 10 in Proud (i.e. 20 GBP). London transit backstamp.
VF condition overall. The value of the cancel in Proud is 20 GBP. The destination for the covers is of no premium value, but the basic cover is $5. The stamp value on cover is $25. So, my estimate of the value of this cover is $50.
