Lot 99 United States SC#U365var 2c Carmine, 1894-1898 Plimpton-Morgan Issue, A Very Fine Mint Envelope, Die 2 (U79), Size 3, Wmk 13, Knife Type 50, Flagstead, Iowa Return Corner Card.

A Very Fine Mint Envelope of the 2c carmine from the 1894-1898 Plimpton-Morgan Issue, die 2 (u79), size 3, wmk 13, knife type 50, Flagstead, Iowa return corner card.

Flagstead is a ghost town that was a coal mining and farming railroad community along the crooked creak railway line. Local grain elevators, mines and general stores ordered these envelopes with these generic corner cards to facilitate business logistics.

Scott doesn't list this variety, so we estimate it at $90. The envelope offered here grades VF.
