A very fine used envelope of the 2c purple from the 1893 Columbian Exposition Issue, die 1, commercial size 3, large Emmanuel Doeblin poster stamp seal.

Doeblin was a highly prominent figure in the 1890's as the supreme dictator of the Knights of Honor and a major leader in Pittsburg-area-German-American Civic societies and printing unions. The Envelope is sent from allegheny PA to Pittsburg on January 2 1894 with Pittsburg backstamp and Pittsburg station backstamp documenting arrival. A couple of minor edge tears not affecting the label. The value lies mainly in the label.

Scott doesn't list this variety, so we estimate it at $150. The envelope offered here grades VF.
