A very fine used envelope of the 2c purple from the 1893 Columbian Exposition Issue, die 3, full letter size envelope (size 2), sent from Eureka, NC on June 12 1893 to New York City, indicta showing broken s in cents.
The cancellation is a faint but visible star in circle duplex. The broken s is a verified constant plate variety. June 12 is 6 weeks after the May 1st opening of the fair, making this an early use cover.
Scott doesn't list these envelope varieties, so we estimate them at $125. The envelope offered here grades 70 and 75 as follows:
Centering/Margins: 30/60, 35/60
