This pays the proper international UPU rate, and is a proper single use. The envelope was sent on January 2 1899. A Berlin back stamp from January 17 1899 which translates into 'ordered/delivered by the post office'. This illustrates a perfect 15-day Transatlantic timeline from rural Kansas to imperial Berlin. Elbing was a small community heavily settled by Prussian Mennonite immigrants in the late 19th century.

Scott doesn't list this variety, so we estimate it at $125. The envelope offered here grades VF.
