A very fine used amber envelope of the 2c green from the 1887-1894 2nd Plimpton Issue, die 2 (u371), regular legal size envelope (USPS size 6 - 6 and 13/16inches x 3.75inches), wmk 7 instead of the common wmk 8.

This happened as paper left over from the previous Morgan Contract was used up to produce this envelope. This has Knife 55, making this USPSS #1026-A-55. Knife 55 is the scarcer of the two knife types on this envelope (the common type is knife 49 - triangular tip).

Scott doesn't list this variety, so we estimate it at $175. The envelope offered here grades VF.
