A very good used single of the 10c purple brown from the 1897 Diamond Jubilee Issue, ABN-aaaa paper, perf 11.9x11.85, showing dot in central ribbon & very large white diagonal scratch from left medallion to the bottom margin through n of ten.

I considered that this is a surface scrape, but there is no clear damage to the paper surface and you would need a very forceful scratch to remove the ink.
