Lot 313 Canada SC#28 12.5c Blue Queen Victoria, 1868-1876 Large Queen Issue, A FOG Single, Paper FO-CC (Duckworth Paper 9b), Sismondo Certificate Saying Gum Is Not Original - I Respectfully Disagree

A FOG single of the 12.5c blue Queen Victoria from the 1868-1876 Large Queen Issue, paper FO-cc (duckworth paper 9b), Sismondo certificate saying gum is not original - i respectfully disagree.

Sismondo makes no reference to Duckworth paper types in the certificate, and the gum varies widely on this issue depending on paper type. This gum is the same as other paper 9b stamps I have encountered and while not all perfs feel completely soft, they are not sharp, and a close examination of the perforation teeth does not reveal only gum residue on perf tip fibers or in between the holes. I can only assume that Mr. Sismondo was comparing the gum to what he had seen on other paper types, and since it was the same he concluded it was regummed. But you have to decide. I have graded the ceentering as fine, even though it is a touch better.

Unitrade values this at $1200 for OG, so we estimate it at Without OG $600. The stamp offered here grades 70 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 40/70

Paper Freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
