Lot 274 Nigeria #16, 1d Rose Red 1921-1932 King George V Imperium Keyplate Issue, Usage On Registered Envelope To Belgian Congo
A registered envelope, sent from Port Harcourt on November 10, 1925, to Belgian Congo, via Lagos, Boma and Cotonou, Dahomey, backstamps for which are all on the cover. The 6d postage has been paid by adding three 1d die 1 rose red stamps. These are tied by Proud type R2 registry cancel.
VF condition overall. The value of the cancels in Proud is nominal 2 GBP. The destination for the covers is very scarce, as most mail from Nigeria went to either the UK or the US, or Europe. So, this adds $25 to the basic cover value of $5. The stamp value on cover is $2. So, my estimate of the value of these covers is $34.
