Lot 249 (C) Canada SC#40b 10c Deep Lilac Rose Queen Victoria, 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue, A VF Used Single Mid-Montreal Printing On Paper MM-B, Perf. 12.1, The Nicest Used 10c I Have Ever Seen
A VF used single of the 10c deep lilac rose Queen Victoria from the 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue mid-Montreal printing on paper mm-b, perf. 12.1, the nicest used 10c i have ever seen. Notwithstanding an attempt to lighten a pen cancel by erasure. This is the reason why I have knocked 2 points off the colour score. But the centering colour and overall appearance are the nicest I've ever seen. This is a notoriously tough stamp to find this nice. Usually it is either because of heavy cancels, poor centering, perf faults, or a combination of all three.
Unitrade values this at $120. The stamp offered here grades 78 as follows:
Centering/Margins: 40/60
Paper Freshness: 5/5
Colour: 3/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
Cancellation: 10/10
