A VFOG block of 4 of the 1d deep dull blue & bright scarlet Windsor Castle from the 1935 Silver Jubilee Issue, vertical hairline scratch in right margin, constant, in block of 4 with other varieties.

The scratch is a short line about 6mm or so, mid way up the design & right next to the right frameline. We know this is constant, as lot 243 has it in the same place, both mint & used. Other variations in this block include; 1) on the same stamp, log in water above E of castle & 2) dash on top bar of '5' of 1935.

Gibbons values this at £5, so we estimate it at $30. The block offered here grades 80 as follows:
