Lot 177 Austria SC#455-481, 483-488, 504/515 3g - 5s Sapphire - Dark Violet Scenes, 1945-1948 Scenic Photogravure Definitive Issues, 250-300 Fine/Very Fine Mint & Used Singles In A Glassine Envelope

250-300 fine/very fine mint & used singles in a glassine envelope of the 3g - 5s sapphire - dark violet Scenes from the 1945-1948 Scenic Photogravure Definitive Issues .

These are interesting sets. If you research them online you will seethat the papers, shades & clarity of the printing impressions differ, and that these differences are all collectible. There is a pretty even mix of mint & used with the mint being hinged & NH. As far as coverage goes, there appears to be an even mix of all three issues, though most of the mint appears to come from the first three issues, but there are some of the 1947-1948 issue as well. Contains better stamps such as 499, the 5s with solid panel (Catalogues $20), a full NH set of the frist issue (#496-499, Cat. $12), with multiple copies in some cases.

Scott doesn't list these varieties, so we estimate them at $75. The stamps offered here grade between 70 and 80 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 40/70, 45/70, 50/70, 30/60, 35/60, 40/60
