Lot 103 United States SC#U362var 2c Albino, 1894-1898 Plimpton-Morgan Issue, A Very Fine Mint Envelope, Die 2, Albino Commercial Sized Envelope, Albino Corner Card, Wmk 12, Knife Type 70.

A Very Fine Mint Envelope of the 2c albino from the 1894-1898 Plimpton-Morgan Issue, die 2, albino commercial sized envelope, albino corner card, wmk 12, knife type 70.

This represents a complete mechanical failure on the press line where neither the stamp die, not the corporate printing plate received any ink whatsoever. Knife 70 is also a scarcer type, as most commercial envelopes have knife type 50.

Scott doesn't list this variety, so we estimate it at $250. The envelope offered here grades VF.
