Lot 100 United States SC#442 2c Carmine , 1914 Washington-Franklin Flat Plate Printing Issue, A Very Fine Used Coil Single, Wavy Line Cancel, There Are Two Factors Here That Identify This As Genuine And Not A Fradulently Perforated Imperf or Trimmed, .

A very fine used coil single of the 2c carmine from the 1914 Washington-Franklin Flat Plate Printing Issue, wavy line cancel, there are two factors here that identify this as genuine and not a fradulently perforated imperf or trimmed.

The two factors that identify this is a genuine coild and not a fradulently perforated imperf or a trimmed sheet are; 1) the vertical edges are perfectly straight and the margins are large on both sides. This would not usually be the case if this was a trimmed sheet stamp and 2) opposing perfs are not perfectly aligned but are parallel. The wavy line cancel suggests commercial use.

Scott values this at $45. The stamp offered here grades 76 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 40/60

Paper Freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10

Cancellation: 6/10
