Canada #1062var 34c Multicoloured Girl Guides, 1985 Girl Guides Issue, A VFNH Single Repaired Maple Leaf Variety, DF2/DF2 Harrison Paper
A VFNH single of the 34c multicoloured Girl Guides from the 1985 Girl Guides Issue repaired maple leaf variety, DF2/DF2 Harrison paper. The red maple leaves that appear on the scarves of the guides are normally printed by engraving. However, it appears that on some stamps the upper most leaf on the scarf on the older guide as well as the lower left section of the larger maple leaf on the main part of the scarf was omitted, and was repaired by printing a flat, image by photogravure instead. 1985 marks the year in which the Harrison paper becomes primarily dull under UV, whereas in 1984 it was primarily LF (at least on the face). The normal appearance of this paper is DF on the front and usually some variation of DF on the back. Variations that are LF on either the front or back are much less common at this point, and definitely worthy of separate mention.
Unitrade does not list this variety, but we estimate the value at $5. The stamp offered here grades 75 as follows:
