Canada #325/338 1c Violet Brown - 2c Green Queen Elizabeth II & Bighorn Sheep, 1953-54 Karsh - 1954-62 Wilding Issue, 3 Local Use 1953-1955 Covers Bearing Different Frankings

A very fine group of 3 local covers, including a colour postcard. All sent betwen 1953-1955.

Unusual because:

  • One cover is paid with a 1c and 3c Karsh, which is unusual when 4c stamps were readily available. This is a fairly early usage of the issue also, being within the first month. The stamps are cancelled by nice Coronaton, Alberta CDS's
  • The postcard is franked with a 4c Bighorn sheep, when most postcards would have used a 4c Karsh. The stamp is tied with a nice Bobcageon CDS.

Our estimate of the value of these covers based on the above factors is $5. To understand how we have assessed the covers and arrived at this estimate and to gain a broader understanding of postal history collecting, I would suggest you read the article linked here. It should clarify the factors that make covers, and this one in particular scarce, and will help you to understand why we have estimated it at this amount.
