Canada #339 3c Cerise Queen Elizabeth II , 1954-1962 Wilding Issue, Single Use on June 1965 Printed Matter Local Cover Within Burnaby, BC, Enclosures Inside

A very fine 3c printed matter cover, complete with stamp dealer related enclosures, sent in June 1965. Franked with a single 3c Wilding, which is a tad late. The enclosure is fascinating and is advertising the ITU omnibus set for sale as a new issue, among other things.

Unusual because:

  • The majority of covers to the US at this time would have gone by airmail.
  • The cover is registered, and most commercial registered covers get thrown away.
  • A postal stationery envelope intended for domestic use has been utilized to make up the rate.
  • Remaining postage of 20c has been paid with a combination of definitives and a current commemorative, rather than just definitives.

Our estimate of the value of this cover based on the above factors is $15. To understand how we have assessed the cover and arrived at this estimate and to gain a broader understanding of postal history collecting, I would suggest you read the article linked here. It should clarify the factors that make covers, and this one in particular scarce, and will help you to understand why we have estimated it at this amount.
