Lot 98 Canada #233 3c Carmine King George VI, 1937-1942 Mufti Issue, Single Tied to Gummed OHMS label Used to Seal Official Envelopes, Cancelled At Shelburne, NS, June 15, 1942

A gummed OHMS label that was used to seal official envelopes, that is franked with a 3c stamp cancelled on June 15, 1942, right at the end of this issue’s life, as the 3c war issue would be released two weeks after this. The idea of the labels was that you would cut the label instead of tearing the envelope. They were issued as a way to conserve envelopes and allow for their re-use during the war effort. There is a light horizontal crease on the right side, but still F-VF and the first gummed label with a stamp that I have come across. Net est. $5.
