Lot 96 Canada #130a 3c Carmine Red King George V, 1911-1928 Admiral Issue, A Fine OG Part Perforate Coil Pair, Perforated 8 Vertically, Wet Printing, Rare - Only 1,100 Pairs Originally Issued!

A fine OG pair of the rare part perforate coil pair, wet printing, perforated 8 vertically and imperf horizontally. The stamps are die 1, and have the retouched frameline. According to Unitrade, some 2,200 stamps were issued by favour, of this printing. Given that they are typically collected in pairs or blocks of 4, this means a maximum of 1,100 pairs or 550 blocks of 4 originally existed, making it one of the most elusive regularly issued items of 20th century Canadian philately. Indeed, it is almost never present in any Canadian collection we see. 2023 Unitrade catalog value is $425. The pair offered here grades 65 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 40/70

Paper Freshness: 5/5
