Lot 95 Canada #61 $1 Lake Queen Victoria, 1897 Diamond Jubilee Issue, A VFNH Example

A VFNH example of the $1 lake Queen Victoria from the 1897 Diamond Jubilee Issue. There is a very tiny spot of gum on the face, near the right leg of the "V", which we mention for the sake of strict accuracy. As it is not noticeable, I would not attempt to remove it, as the risk of damaging the pristine gum is too great. I have thoroughly examined the perforation tips and can confirm that there is no gum residue on the residual paper fibres on either the perforation tips, or in the perforation holes themselves. The gum has the colour, the thickness and the sheen normally seen on this issue. Based on these observations I can attest that the gum is original and NH. This is a fantastic example of the $1, destined for the finest collection.

Unitrade values this at $3000. The stamp offered here grades 75 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 45/70

Paper Freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
