Lot 9 Group of 4 1910's Easter Postcards, Nicer Designs, All Embossed, 1 Stamped, Net Est. $8

4 Easter postcards from the 1910's with nicer designs, all embossed, 1 is stamped. F/VF, net est. $8. Most occasional postcards from this period are not stamped, as the majority were simply filled in and hand delivered to the recipients. Most all of the cards from this period are the standard split address side containing one section for the address and one for the message. The scarcer earlier cards had no message portion. Better cards tend to be those that incorporate more colours, as multicolour printing during this period was expensive, embossing, embelishments, such as popups, and lacquered faces. The more of these attributes a postcard has the more expensive it would have been to produce, and the more desirable it tends to be in terms of graphic art. The better cards are typically grouped into lots of 3, 4 or 5 cards, while the more run of the mill designs are grouped into lots of 8 or 10.
