Lot 67 Canada #86, 67, 1898 Imperial Penny Postage and 1897-98 Maple Leaf Issue, Triple Combination Usage on 7c Registered Cover to Guysborough, Muddy Oceans, Fine, Cat. $200

A fine 7c registered cover, sent June 13, 1899, from Half Island Cove, NS to Guysborough. Franked with three 2c map stamps with muddy blue ocean and a 1c blue green Maple Leaf. One stamp is just tied by smudgy cork cancels, while the others are not tied, but there is little doubt that they belong, as the cover also bears a straight line handstamp. One two cent map stamp is damaged at the top left, but the others are sound. However, because of the cancels and the damage to the one stamp we are grading the cover as fine, rather than VF.
Valued at $250 in the Canadian Posted Letter Guide for a cover paid with three 2c map stamps and a 1c Numeral. This is a slightly late usage of the 1c Maple Leaf, though not very late. So our estimate of the value is $200.
