Lot 60 Canada #1094, 1095-1098,a, 8 Canada Post Official FDC's For the 1986 Canadian Porces Post to the Birds Issue, Envelopes With Different Paper Fluorescences

8 very fine Canada Post official FDC's covering the 1986 commemoratives to the Birds issue. The Canadian Parces Post consist of a single & UR plate block of 4 on MF paper, as well as the envelope being MF. The Birds issue consists of MF envelopes & MF papers, (which cover the UR PB great horned owl & spruce grouse) and DF envelope & MF papers (which covers the snow geese and great blue heron block of 4.)
Chung catalog values these at $14.10.

The commemorative issues from 1986 to 1990 form a fascinating area of study for the collector of modern Canadian issues and are the subject of this week's blog post. You are encouraged to read the post for more information about these issues and specifically about the different papers used in production during this time. For first day covers we have adjusted the Chung catalogue values where covers display unlisted paper varieties not listed specifically by Chung, by taking the premiums inherent in the Unitrade values of these varieties, and applying them to the Chung prices. As the envelopes are an integral component of an official first day cover released by Canada post, we have described the envelope fluorescence as well, and would note that we have seen some interesting variations in otherwise identical appearing envelopes.
