Lot 552 United States Of America #65var 3c Rose George Washington, 1861-1869 Civil War Issue, A Fair OG Single Showing Misplaced Entry to Left of Bust

A Fair OG single of the 3c rose George Washington from the 1861-1869 Civil War Issue showing misplaced entry to left of bust. There is a large line from the tip of Washington's nose, into the left margin. Under magnification this line is made up of small squares of rose ink, and appears to come from the engine turned background in the main protrait. The overall stamp has a VG appearance, but there is a very heavy diagonal crease that breaks the paper, and there are several short perfs. These issues reduce the grade to fair.

2016 Scott Specialized values this at $125 for VFOG. Our estimate of the value for the condition offered is $10. The stamps offered here grade 35 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 35/70

Paper Freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 0/10

Adjustment for mentioned faults: -20 points.
