Lot 52 Canada, 3 Souvenir Folders From Canadian Aerophilatelic Society, Franked With the 1987 Air Canada Issue, Prepared for Various Philatelic Exhibitions

Three different very fine souvenir folders from the Canadian Aerophilatelic Society from CAPEX 1987, each featuring #1145 (the Air Canada issue), one postmarked Sept, 1st, 1987, the day of issue. The secod was issued for Luposta '87 In Berlin, and contains many cancels/markings. The third was issued for Hafnia, and also contains a postmark for Canada '92. We estimate the value at $3.

The commemorative issues from 1986 to 1990 form a fascinating area of study for the collector of modern Canadian issues and are the subject of this week's blog post. You are encouraged to read the post for more information about these issues and specifically about the different papers used in production during this time. For first day covers we have adjusted the Chung catalogue values where covers display unlisted paper varieties not listed specifically by Chung, by taking the premiums inherent in the Unitrade values of these varieties, and applying them to the Chung prices. As the envelopes are an integral component of an official first day cover released by Canada post, we have described the envelope fluorescence as well, and would note that we have seen some interesting variations in otherwise identical appearing envelopes.
