Lot 51 Canada #35, 42 1c Yellow and 5c Grey Queen Victoria 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue, Combination Usage on Registered Cover to New York, Boxed Ottawa Registered Handstamp, Fine, Est. $180

A fine registered cover, sent from Ottawa to New York on March 6, 1894. Franked with three 1c yellow and one 5c grey, all second Ottawa printings., tied by “R” registered cancellations. Two strikes of the boxed Ottawa Registered handstamp, listed in Jarett as type 1470. Boxed purple March 8, 1894 New York receiving backstamp.
Valued at $150 in the Canadian Posted Letter guide for a franking with the 5c registered stamp plus 3c. This franking is scarcer, and the boxed handstamp adds about $30 to the value also. So our estimate of the value of this cover is $180.
