Lot 506 United States Of America #631 2c Carmine Rose Alexander Hamilton's Battery, 1926 White Plains Issue, A VF Used Sheet Of 25 October 26, 1926 New York Cancels, Top Margin Pane With Cjaracteristic "Notch" In Upper Left Corner

A VF Used sheet of 25 of the 2c carmine rose Alexander Hamilton's Battery from the 1926 White Plains Issue October 26, 1926 New York cancels, top margin pane with characteristic "notch" in upper left corner. There are some light folds along all the internal vertical perforations, and there ia a very small separation at the left margin between the first two perfs along the third horizontal row of perforations. The cancellations are a little blurry, but are still readable and well within period. The diagonal notch in the selvedge at upper left is supposed to be there - it signifies that this is a top sheet margin pane. There are some minor internal pap Aller wrinkles that reduce the grade of the sheet from VF-80 to VF-75. Overall centering is definitely VF for the sheet, and so I have graded it as 50/70. All in all, this is a very nice example of this scarce sheet in used condition, which is very elusive thus.

2016 Scott Specialized values this at $475. The sheet offered here grades 75 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 40/60

Paper Freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 2/5

Perforations: 10/10

Cancellation: 8/10
