Lot 502 Canada #789iiivar 17c Multicoloured Queen Elizabeth II, 1977-1982 Floral & Environment Issue, A VFNH Single Double Cameo Variety & Extended Shadow Behind Head Variety On LF3/LF4 Paper, Listed In Unitrade As "F"

A VFNH single of the 17c multicoloured Queen Elizabeth II from the 1977-1982 Floral & Environment Issue double cameo variety & extended shadow behind head variety on LF3/LF4 paper, listed in unitrade as "F". The double cameo often results from a shift in the background colour away from the cameo. But in this case it is due to a rightward shift of the highlights in the cameo, which would normally be flush with the left outline of the cameo. In addition, the black halftone shading at the back of the head is extended, forming a large black plume that extends well past the head and crosses the frameline at right. Normally this halftone shading forms a shadow that follows the contours of the head out about 1-1.5 mm past the head, whereas this plume extends about 2.5 mm to the right of the head.

Unitrade values the F paper at $4 for VFNH, but does not list either of the other two varieties. Our estimate of the value is $15. The stamp offered here grades 80 as follows:
