Lot 480 Canada #454-465B 1967 Centennial Issue Official Presentation Book, Rare As Only Given to Select Individuals By The Post Office in 1967, A Rare Item! Net Est. $600
Here is the ultimate item for you Centennial enthusuiasts! On offer here is the official presentation book for the issue that was produced by the Post Office Department and given to select individuals, most likely those who were either involved in the production of the issue, or who were involved in the planning and organizing of the various celebratory events that were held in centennial year. I'm not exactly sure. Harris mentions this in his book on the issue, on page 115 of that book, along with five other presentation books that came out later on for various postal meetings and exhibitions. This book is 21 pages, with the covers made from a parchment like card stock, which is naturally deckled on the front cover, and straight cut on the back. The binding is cyrlox coils. There is a presentation page, showing that it was given to Richard A Steward, Esq. Then there are two green introductory pages, one in French and the other in English, introducing the issue. The remaining pages present the stamps, with a bilingual page containing a description of the stamps and a sketch of Anthony Buckley, for the low values, and the Group of Seven members for the high values. As was customary for all souvenir booklets of this period, the stamps are affixed to the pages. The condition is pristine, with no pen marks, creases, stains etc. either on the covers or the pages. None of the comprehensive Centennial collections that I have handled, including Watt contained one of these booklets. It is, in my opinion, one of the key items for the issue. Our estimate of the value is $600.
