Lot 326 Great Britain SG#FH1B, FH4B, FH5-7, FH21 1979-1990 A Group of Six £1 Booklets, Panes of 10, 6 and 5 + 3 Labels, One Tab With Total Sheet Value Markings, One With Cylinder Numbers SG. Cat. £17 = $28.75
Fine NH and VFNH examples of six £1 booklets from the Industrial Archaeology series, the Military Aircraft Series, the Musical Instruments Series and the Mills series.
Both of the Industrial Archaeology and Military Aircraft booklets contain a pane of 10 10p stamps, with the selvedge tabs at the right. Both tabs show tab cutting guidelines and one has the “Total Sheet Value £20” marking. The Industrial Archaeology booklet is tagged with “all over” phosphor, is printed on HB/MF paper and has a HF cover. The aircraft booklet is tagged with one centre phosphor band, is on HB/HF paper and has a HB cover. Both booklets have a single extension hole in the tab and PVAD gum.
The musical instruments booklets contain panes of 6 of either the 17p, or one 13p and 5 18p stamps. All three booklets have remnants of cutting guidemarks on the tabs and a single extension hole in the tab. The covers are all HB and the panes are either HB/LF or HF/LF. The pane containing the 17p stamps does not appear to be tagged and may be on phosphorized paper (Gibbons makes no mention of phosphor bands on this value, so it is probably normal). The other two booklets have 2 bar tagging on the 18p stamps and left bar tagging on the 13p stamp. One of the booklets has tagging that appears much darker under short-wave UV than the other, and gives a longer, bluish white afterglow than the other one. Gum on all three of these is PVAD also.
Finally, the Mills booklet contains a pane of 5 + 3 labels of the 17p and 22p, tagged with 2 bands on the 22p and right band on the 17p, and printed on HB/LF-fl paper, with a HB cover. The tab of this pane contains a single extension hole and the cylinder numbers B45 and B1.
Gibbons Concise cat. £17 = $28.75, without the cylinder numbers on FH21. Should be worth more with these numbers. The booklets offered grade between F-65 and VF-80.
