Lot 317 Nova Scotia #2 3d Blue Crown and Flowers, 1851-1857 Pence Issue, Single Use on 1850's Cover to Anapolis County, NS
A VG-F cover sent from an uncertain location in Nova Scotia to Anapolis County sometime between 1853 and 1857, most likely being 1857, judging from the colour of the stamp. A light pencil notation on the cover incorrectly identifies it as the dark blue, which it is not. The stamp is a lovely 4 margin example which is cancelled with three pen strokes. There is a rounded corner at bottom, but there is still plenty of margin remaining, so the stamp is still VF. It is not tied to the cover though, A portion of the back is missing and this portion contained the remainder of the Anapolis receiving backstamp that would have confirmed the date. This is why we grade the cover as VG. However, it should be worth at least as much has the VF stamp, which is $300.
