Lot 315 Canada #1011, 1011i, 1101ii 32c Multicoloured Cartier & Ship, 1984 Jacques Cartier Issue, 3 VF Official Canada Post FDC's Joint Issue With France, DF, LF, HF Papers, LF Cream Envelopes

3 VF official canada post FDC's of the 32c multicoloured Cartier & Ship from the 1984 Jacques Cartier Issue joint issue with france, DF, LF & HF papers, LF cream envelopes. The DF envelopes appear to be the standard ones for these issues, with the LF ones being less common. The fluorescence of the envelopes is an important characteristic that has been ignored by all the catalogues. Why does it matter? Because the envelope is an integral component of the FDC in the same way that a cover would be to a complete booklet, or the cardboard insert would be to a pack of plate blocks. The expectation, and general observation would be that Canada Post would utilize one type of envelope for a particular issue, so that if a different one from the standard type is found, then there is a good chance that it will be scarce, and is therefore, in our opinion collectible. One cover has the Canadian stamp on DF paper, the French stamp on HF paper. The second cover has the stamp on LF paper. The third cover has both stamps on HF paper.

Unitrade does not list these specific varieties of cover. But we estimate them at $21.
