Lot 312 - Three Red Boxes Of Mint & Used East Germany
Lot 312 - Three Red Boxes Of Mint & Used East Germany
Three red boxes of 102 card-like sleeves containing mint and used stamps of East Germany as shown in the video. Good balance of mint & CTO used for the period up to 1971, with the mint being mostly NH and mostly sets in the $1-$3 catalogue value range. There is some hinged mint also. The CTO has sets in the same range and a lot of other 25c singles. The cards for this period contain at least 4 stamps per card on average, and there are about 1,000 cards in this period, or 4,000+ stamps.
The second box covers the period from about 1971 to 1985. Most of this box is CTO, but there is a useful quantity of NH mint singles and sets in the 50c to $2 range. The quantity of stamps here is about the same as the first box, so approximately 4,000.
The third box runs from 1985 to 1990 and then contains semi-postals, airmails and officials, although no compass design officials. This is about 1/3 of a box, and is mostly CTO, with just a few mint. Quantities are lower here: about 2 stamps per card in about 350 cards. So, about 700 stamps.
So there are approximately 8,700 stamps. At 25c cat minimum, it catalogues about $2,175. Our estimate at 10% of catalogue is $215.
Shipping will be about $35 within Canada. The third box can be eliminated by packing the cards from it on the top of the first and second boxes, or we can ship all three boxes if you want the red boxes for your own use.
