A fine cover sent from Kingston, ON to Ottawa on October 14, 1864. Franked with a fine centered single of the 5c orange red Beaver, perf. 11.75 x 12. The stamp is tied by a Kingston duplex cancel. The cover is addressed to Lieutenant Colonel Coffin, an ordinance lands agent, in nice handwriting. The cover does have a horizontal file fold, but this does not affect the stamps. Ottawa City split ring receiving backstamp. Unitrade values a fine cover at $40.
