A VG-F cover sent from Quebec to St. Joseph Beauce on November 22, 1862. Franked with a VF centered single of the 5c vermilion Beaver, perf. 12. The stamp is cancelled by a 7-ring target cancel, but is not tied. Also, this is too early a use of the perf. 12. But given that much of the backflap is missing, it doesn't make sense to me that this would have been added after the fact. The penmanship is quite nice. So, this should be worth at least the value of the VF stamp, which is $50 in Unitrade.
