A fine cover sent from an unclear Ontario City (Well.....Are) to Quebec on March 22, 1862. Franked with two fine centered singles of the 5c brick red beaver, perf. 11.75. One stamp damaged at lower right and top, while the other stamp is sound. Both cancelled with smudgy strikes of a 7-ring target cancel, but not tied to the cover. Addressed to Isaac Buchanan, who was a prminent businessman, political figure and writer in Upper Canada. The stamps pay the 10c double letter rate. The Firby guide prices a fine cover at $125 for this rate. Net est. $75.
