Registered airmail cover sent from Kano on October 6, 1971 to Romania. Franked with a complete set of the Antiquities Issue, plus 1/2d lions, Id NSP&M, 2d NSP&M with small imprint, two 3d Harrison, 4d NSP&M, and 6d NSP&M definitive. Together the stamps pay 5/0.5d, which appears to be slightly overpaid, as there do not seem to be any rates at this time that call for a single 1/2d stamp. The stamps are all tied by clear strikes of an unlisted single circle CDS cancel for "Kano 7, 424" (2 GBP on cover in Proud). This is the only cover from Nigeria that I have seen for Romania.

The cancellations list in Proud for 2 GBP and the cover value to a common destination is approximately $18 applying Gibbons’ prescribed multiplier of 2 to the Scott value of $8.95 for the stamps off cover. Romania is a very scarce destination. So, the value of this cover, taking the destination, rate, franking and cancellations into account is $30.
