28 fine used singles of the 3c dull red, orange red, vermilion & deep rose carmine Queen Victoria from the 1870-1897 Small Queen Issue. Montreal & 2nd Ottawa printings, including the scarce deep rose carmine, . This lot is a largely balanced mix of Montreal and 2nd Ottawa printings, on a variety of horizontal and vertical wove papers, covering a very wide range of shades. Each stamp is different from the others, one the basis of one or more characteristics. The Montreal printings include a few perf. 11.75 x 12 printings and the 2nd Ottawas include a Montreal Gazette printing in deep rose carmine, from 1888.
