This lot is a largely balanced mix of Montreal and 2nd Ottawa printings, on a variety of horizontal and vertical wove papers, covering a very wide range of shades. Each stamp is different from the others, one the basis of one or more characteristics. The Montreal printings include a few perf. 11.75 x 12 printings and the 2nd Ottawas include a Montreal Gazette printing in deep rose carmine, from 1888.
