7 F/VFOG singles from the 1904-1905 King Edward VII Keyplates Issue, multiple Crown CA Wmk, ordinary paper. The Scott numbers range from 23 to 28, and include 23-24, 26-28. 2d brownish grey & chestnut - 1/- dull bluish green & black, includes extra shade of 2d with pale chestnut frame & gray duty plate in head B. According to nicholson 67,800 head A 2d & 121,200 head B stamps were issued as well as just 6,360 4d, 6d, 16,680 6d and 65,160 1/-. the two shades of the head A 2d likely correspond to two printings (may & nov. 1904). The head B comes from one of 3 printings made between June 1907 and Aug. 1908, there was 1 printing of the 4d & 2 of the 6d & 1/-. There were 7 printings of this issue as follows; April 1904 (1/2d & 2d), May 1904 (1/2d, 2d, 2.5d & 1/-), June 1904 (1d), October 1904 (6d), November 1904 (2d, 2.5d, 4d, 6d, 1/-, 2/6d, 5/-, 10/- & £1), March 1905 (1/2d, 1d) & April 1905 (1d - all booklets). All except one printing of the 2d were head type A, 2017 Gibbons Cat £41.25. Our estimate of the value based on the condition is $30.
