Lot 161 Canada # 50 1/2c Grey Black on Greyish Paper Queen Victoria, 1897 Diamond Jubilee Issue, A Fine Disturbed OG Example, Multiple Misplaced Entry

A fine disturbed OG example of the 1/2c black Queen Victoria from the 1897 Diamond Jubilee Issue, printed in the grey black shade on greyish toned paper, showing multiple markings on the design that are indicative of a misplaced entry. The close up scans show a few of these, but there are a few that I am just noticing now that were not picked up in the scans. The first of these is a smal arc in the bottom of the "V". The second is another arc that extends through the "P" of "Postage" and into the right medallion. There is a small dot inside the "D" of "Canada". There is a small arc inside the "8" of "1897". Finally, there is a dot, similar to the guide dot sometimes found inside the "R" across from the older Queen's right eye. It thus appears as though the design was misplaced down and to the right, and then the sideographer attempted to burnish off the misplaced entry before attempting it again. However, these are the portions that he missed.

Unitrade values the normal stamp at $60 for OG. so with heavily disturbed part OG it should be worth about the same as unused, which would be $30. The stamp offered here grades 65 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 35/70
Paper Freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
