Lot 126 Canada #1356/1361xii 42c-45c Flag and Queen Elizabeth II Stamps, Group of 8 Domestic and Foreign Airmail Covers With A Variety of Usages
Lot 126 Canada #1356/1361xii 42c-45c Flag and Queen Elizabeth II Stamps, Group of 8 Domestic and Foreign Airmail Covers With A Variety of Usages
A group of 8 covers, all selected for being better than average usages of the 42c flag, 43c flag, 45c Queen Elizabeth and 45c Flag definitive stamps. Two are domestic and the remaining 6 are foreign, to the UK and Lithuania.
The two domestic covers are both single or combination usages, sent during the 43c rate period in 1993, and are sent from military bases, being cancelled with CFPO #5998 and 5056. The 43c single usage cover, based on the date is franked with an Ashtop Potter printing of the 43 flag.
Three covers are addressed to the UK. The first, sent in 1995 is franked with a pair of 43c Leigh Mardon flag stamps and a CBN printing of the 2c strawberry, paying the 88c rate. Curiously, this cover has a Warsaw transit backstamp. The second is not dated, and is franked with two booklet singles of the 45c Queen, most likely APC on CPP. This has been pen cancelled. The third, is also not dated, but is likely contemporary, based on the rate ($1.37 for overweight airmail), is franked with a strip of three 45c Queen and a CBN printing of the 2c strawberry.
The last three covers are all to Lithuania and are contemporary, being sent in 1992, 1997 and 1998. They are all franked with pairs of the 42c and 45c flag to make up the 84c and 90c airmail rates as they existed at the time. The 45c stamps are both booklet pairs from the top row of the booklet, and appear to be CBN printings.
Very fine. A nice group. Est. $25.
