Lot 125 Canada #199iii 5c Dark Blue King George V, 1932 Medallion Issue, A Fine Appearing But Good OG Pair With A Retouched Re-entry, Pl 2 UL Pos 70
A fine appearing but good OG pair (left stamp is fine, right stamp has a tear) of the 5c dark blue King George V from the 1932 Medallion Issue with a retouched re-entry, pl 2 UL pos 70. The retouched re-entry can be detected by looking at the crown in the upper right corner. On the normal stampthe crown jewels contain no fine detail, but on the retouched re-entry contains very small details in the crown jewels, which are the remnanrts of the doubling that occurred with the re-entry. Unfortunately there is a fairly large tear in the variety stamp down to the King's forehead. This reduces the grade to good, while the normal stamp to the left is fine.
Unitrade values the variety stamp at $50 for fine, so good should still be worth $12.5, and the normal stamp is $6. So, this should be worth about $20. The pair offered here grades 50 as follows:
Centering/Margins: 40/70
Paper Freshness: 5/5
Colour: 5/5
Impression: 5/5
Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5
Perforations: 10/10
Adjustment for mentioned faults: -20 points.
