Lot 105 Canada #FB52 1 Deep Blue and Black Queen Victoria, 1868-1890's Third Bill Issue, A Good Unused Example Perf. 12 on Thin Paper

A good unused example of the 1 deep blue and black Queen Victoria from the 1868-1890's Third Bill Issue perf. 12 on thin paper. Fine appearing, but some pulled perforations and a light diagonal corner crease reduce the grade to good. Still, Van Dam notes that the thin paper printings are much scarcer than the thick papers, being values at 2.5 times normal. At a Van Dam value of $75, we estimate that the value of this example is $15.

Van Dam values this at $75 for fine. Our best estimate of the value in this grade is $15. The stamp offered here grades 50 as follows:

Centering/Margins: 40/70

Paper Freshness: 5/10

Colour: 5/10

Impression: 5/5

Absence of Visible Paper Flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 0/10

Adjustment for mentioned faults: -10 points.
