Morocco Agencies Spanish Currency #11 (SG#7c) 1pe Bistre and Ultramarine Queen Victoria 1898-1900 Overprinted Gibraltar Keyplate Issue, Type 2 Overprint, a VG Mint OG Example

A very fine appearing but VG mint example of the type 2 Morocco Agencies overprint on the 1 peseta bistre and ultramarine from the 1898-1900 Keyplate issue of Gibraltar. A corner crease at lower right and a light horizontal gum crease reduce the grade from VF-80 to VG-60.

This issue came with three types of overprint:

  • Black overprint with the ear of the "g" in agencies projecting upwards.
  • Blue-black overprint with the ear of the "g" projecting upwards.
  • Black overprint with the ear of the "g" horizontal.

This stamp is the second type (type 2).

Gibbons lists this stamp at 170 pounds (approx. $340) for fine hinged. In this grade it should still be worth approximately $80. The stamp offered here grades 60 follows:

Centering/Margins 50/70

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 5/5

Perforations: 10/10
