A fine used example of this scarce provisional on piece, tied by Opobo River cancellation dated October 18, 1894. According to Nicholson, in his book "The Local Bisects & Surcharges of the Oil Rivers and Niger Coast" only 240 were produced, from 2 half sheets of 60 2d stamps, which were then bisected vertically.

This example has a small internal wrinkle that developed before it was affixed to the piece. It is still fine overall, and an attractive example of a stamp that is missing from even the most advanced British Commonwealth collections.

Gibbons values this stamp at 375 GBP which is undercatalogued for how scarce it is. The example offered here grades F-65 as follows:

Centering/margins: 30/60

Paper freshness: 5/5

Colour: 5/5

Impression: 5/5

Absence of visible paper flaws: 0/5 (light internal wrinkle)

Perforations: 10/10

Cancellation: 10/10
